| A crowd of 50000 arrived at the stadium (with a full capacity of 50000 terraces) to see Argentina - Egypt! These are some great conditions for football as the sun shines in the sky! The pressing made by the players of Egypt seems to be working alright. Their opponents show some problems when they try to pass the ball among themselves. Another play at 5 minutes, Ahmed Abdelwahab dribbles through the opponent's defensive line, and passes the ball to Sultan Motaz, who tries to chip it over the keeper... but Patricio Klemm predicts this one, and catches the ball without a problem! After 13 minutes, Sultan Motaz recovers the ball in the opponent's midfield, and with a magnificent pass manages to play Ahmed Abdelwahab clear who, in front of the goalkeeper, manages to take the ball out of his reach and with a simple touch scores. A subtle goal! 0-1 is the result after this goal for Egypt. Argentina changes their style. They seem to be advancing more up the field in play. Egypt make a drastic change. They seem to be playing more defensive now. At 18 minutes, with the scoreboard marking 0-1, a crossed pass to the box by Afrotto Wahed finds Ahmed Abdelwahab clear, but Ahmed Abdelwahab wasn't able to do any better than put it well over the bar... The ball went flying into the crowd! The defensive line of Egypt is able to put the opponent forwards in offside frequently. The players of Argentina are in general not as fast as their opponents, and they seem to be not taking advantage of the good pitch conditions. After 30 minutes, Sultan Motaz makes the supporters of Egypt jump out of their chairs, when showing great style he dribbles past two defenders. When another one gets in his way, he passes to Ahmed Abdelwahab who races clear to the goal... he tries to dribble around an opponent, but loses it. Great tackle by Fermín Alba! Another play at 39 minutes, Sultan Motaz receives a short pass from Ahmed Abdelwahab. Still very far away from the box, he slowly moves towards the goal... and with nobody expecting it, Sultan Motaz fires a 30-yard shot and scores. What a shot by Sultan Motaz!! With this goal, the result is now 0-2. The marking style applied by Egypt's players is working very well today. The game went into half time with the score at 0-2. In this first-half, the home side dominated the match with 64% while the away side hardly touched the ball with only 36% possession. It's a strange match so far. While Argentina throws away scoring chances, the away side is much more effective and they are scoring. Clearly an unfair result. After 49 minutes, Sultan Motaz recovers the ball and dribbles around one, another, and yet another defender before passing the ball to Ahmed Abdelwahab... Ahmed Abdelwahab under pressure from the defense, shoots straight into the hands of Patricio Klemm. The keeper really made a meal out of that! He just barely manages to safely grab the ball after dropping it the first time…unbelievable! Around 55 minutes, Ahmed Abdelwahab combines with Afrotto Wahed... Ahmed Abdelwahab gets himself clear and goes into the box where Patricio Klemm blocks the ball near his feet and puts an end to the potentially dangerous play. 59 minutes, some great play from Egypt. Sultan Motaz gets the ball near the touch line, and crosses it to the edge of the penalty area where Ahmed Abdelwahab is waiting with his foot held back for the shot... and makes an enormous mistake. This ball won't be returning to the stadium. Around 60 minutes, Argentina makes its first substitution. Juan Montenegro enters in the place of Lucio Muñoz. At 66 minutes, with the scoreboard marking 0-2, Ahmed Abdelwahab passes to Sultan Motaz, who immediately returns the pass. Ahmed Abdelwahab dribbles his way into the box... nobody tries to stop Ahmed Abdelwahab, so he takes the chance to shoot and scores!! The keeper didn't even see it. What a shot by Ahmed Abdelwahab. The result is now 0-3. 73 minutes are counted, Sultan Motaz passes to Ahmed Abdelwahab, who hits it first time home... the powerful shot squirms through the defense, and only stops once in the back of the net!! Fantastic goal for Egypt! The result is now 0-4. After 78 minutes, Sultan Motaz passes to Ahmed Abdelwahab, who hits it first time home... the powerful shot squirms through the defense, and only stops once in the back of the net!! Fantastic goal for Egypt! The scoreboard is now 0-5. Argentina is now attacking much more. They've abandoned their balanced style. After that last goal, it's easy to notice that the forwards of Egypt are just waiting for the final whistle. At the end of the 90 minutes, it confirmed what was foreseen after the first-half. Easy win of Egypt. |
